The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

The goals of ACS on campus will be to raise community awareness of methods of prevention, to raise funds to support research and patient support, and to unite the community within and immediately surrounding Hopkins in the struggle against cancer. The goals of the American Cancer Society will be met through groups such as Colleges Against Cancer and projects such as the Relay for Life. We also hope to provide campus support for cancer-oriented community events, such as the breast cancer marches in Baltimore. Furthermore, we hope that through our organization, we can support those in our community who are going through treatment, and celebrate those who have survived. The ultimate goal is to eliminate this disease and bring the community together to support one another.
