CRASH (formerly known as PHISHE) was begun in spring 2002 by Hopkins undergraduate and medical students to teach sexual education to incarcerated youth in Maryland Juvenile Justice facilities. We developed a curriculum system incorporating the male and female reproductive systems, sexually transmitted infections, pregnancy, contraception, and sexual health resources. We teach the curriculum at the William Donald Schaefer House, a group home for teenage boys, and Drug Court, an after-school program for girls under the monitoring of Juvenile Justice. Our sessions are about an hour to an hour and a half long and there are five sessions. We aim to provide accurate information to these teenagers and encourage them to make informed decision in matters related to sex and relationships.
