1. Volunteers (for teaching English and general health knowledge to high school students) are cordially invited to join our major event next summer: 2006 India Summer Camp. Priority will be given to those who participate in our regular activities and those who help us identify volunteering opportunities. 2. We are proud to announce that the CHINA CHAPTER of Educational Perspectives was formally established in September, 2005 --- at the Zijin High School --- the very school whose students we served in the summer of 2005. Our China Chapter now serves students in even poorer neighboring areas.

3. A few months afterwards, in December of 2005, our CANADA CHAPTER at the University of Toronto was also formed by the name of “Educational Perspectives U of T Chapter”.

4. 2 months later, our HONG KONG CHAPTER was established by the name of “Educational Perspectives Chapter at the Chinese University of Hong Kong”.

5. More chapters are in the course of being established, and announcements will be made from time to time. The EP family is growing. Together, we will serve the underprivileged communities more effectively and with an impact.

Purpose:

To promote and improve basic education of underprivileged sectors of the society in the States and in other countries

To initiate Educational Perspectives as an international movement

To uphold an open-minded attitude among the different communities that we serve

To further the education of someone who might otherwise not be able to do so

To help others to fulfill a goal or a dream

To extend the love and care to circles beyond JHU

New immigrants in the Baltimore region

Underprivileged sectors of the community in developing countries

English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring

Providing a source of acculturation companion to the newcomers

Public health knowledge and life-skills

Planning and hosting english-teaching program for students and teachers in underprivileged areas

Raising funds for the aid of the community

Collecting books and other resources to promote education

Annual trip to schools and teacher institutes in rural China and other developing nations

Workshops for underprivileged groups and new immigrants of the Baltimore region

Visits to local organizations of the same nature

Fund-raising and obtaining book donations on campus

To promote the formation of chapters of Educational Perspectives in this country and abroad, and eventually to transform the Educational Perspectives initiation into an international movement
