The Margaret Brent Elementary School Orchestra Program aims to teach music
and various instruments to underprivileged elementary students attending
Margaret Brent elementary School. Our goal is to increase the children's
appreciation of music, allow them to independently read music, and to
teach the basic skills of an instrument such as the violin, flute, or
clarinet. Due to a lack of monetary funds at Margaret Brent Elementary
School and the environment the children live in, their elementary the
children live in, their education lacks any instruction in music and other
arts. Out close proximity and knowledge in music allows us to fill this
gap and give them an opportunity to explore music. We do this by meeting
with the children once a week and teach them music theory and how to play
an instrument of their choosing. We progress at the pace of the children,
but we do expect them to practice on their own during the week by loaning
them the instruments. through lots of effort each week and our enthusiasm
for music, we are able to motivate the students to become young musicians
and inspire and interest in them to continue learning music in the future. |
