Reflections Senator Adam Kline Received his Bachelor's degree in psychology from Johns Hopkins University, in 1968 and then went on to Law school at the University of Maryland, graduating in 1972. While attending Hopkins he was very active in the civil rights movement, participating in the NAACP’s “Freedom Summer” of 1964, during which students from all over the country came together in Mississippi and worked to register African American’s to vote. He was also active in protesting the Vietnam war and was arrested while protesting in front of the Greenmount recruitment center, leading to a supreme court case. Adam Kline is currently a senator for the 37th Legislative District in Washington State and remains an adamant supporter of civil rights, as well as opposing the “Patriot act” and other legislation that would increase the police’s right to invade the privacy of individuals. His Community involvement also includes being the former co-chair of the Washington Conservation Voters, a former chair of the National Abortion Rights Action League PAC of Washington, and former legislative director of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers.
