Mission Statement
Programa SALUD is Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus's Initiative for Hispanic/Latino Health. The purpose of our organization is to alleviate the cultural and linguistic barriers that many Hispanics/Latinos in Baltimore encounter when seeking medical care. To accomplish this goal, Programa Salud targets two populations. First, we target the Hispanic/Latino community itself through health fairs, health education presentations, and community outreach. Second, we target their healthcare providers and institutions through cultural competency training and interpretation services. With our volunteers expanding from undergraduate students, to gradutate, public health, and medical students, we are increasing our partner institutions throughout Baltimore to achieve our goals of health promotion and cultural competency education.
